Job Title: Program Director, Upper Manhattan Early Childhood Connect
Reports to: Chief of Strategic Initiatives
Location: NYC area – LINC is a hybrid work environment. This role will require some onsite presence, with a significant amount of flexibility to work remotely.
Work Schedule: 5 days/week, with events requiring some varied hours or weekend work
Position Summary: Building on its history of leading coalitions and collective impact initiatives, Literacy in Community (LINC) has been selected to work in partnership with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP) and Columbia University Irving Medical Center as the community-based lead for Upper Manhattan Early Childhood Connect (UMECC). UMECC is a multi-sector, collective impact initiative driven by the voices of caregivers with lived experience and organizations with deep roots in our community. Together, we provide the knowledge, resources, and agency families need to achieve lifelong health and well-being.The UMECC Program Director will play a pivotal role in advancing UMECC’s mission by leading collaborative efforts with a wide range of stakeholders, including service providers, policy leaders, community-based organizations (CBOs), caregivers, and families. This role requires a dynamic leader with the vision, communication skills, and adaptability to engage with partners at all levels, from boardroom discussions to grassroots family engagement.Working closely with the Chief of Strategic Initiatives, the Program Director will ensure that UMECC’s strategies promote community-wide impact in health, education, and family well-being. This position requires a leader who can inspire action, influence decisions, and strengthen community connections to achieve measurable outcomes that benefit families in Northern Manhattan

Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership
- Provide cross-sector leadership to advance UMECC’s mission, goals, and solutions in Northern Manhattan.
- Represent UMECC and LINC at external events, community meetings, and collaborative tables.
- Serve as a credible and trusted leader, building trust and respect with both high-level stakeholders and families on the ground.
- Lead, coach, and supervise an Early Intervention Ambassador to achieve strategic objectives.
2. Collaborative Impact & Communication
- Build and maintain high-level relationships with public, private, and philanthropic institutions.
- Facilitate communication and alignment across stakeholders, including service providers, policy leaders, and grassroots families.
- Develop materials and messaging to engage diverse audiences, including caregivers and institutional partners.
- Represent UMECC at conferences and events, advocating for the initiative’s goals and sharing best practices.
- Collaborate with communications colleagues to develop UMECC’s brand, digital presence, and outreach materials.
- Prepare and deliver regular reports on UMECC’s activities, successes, and challenges.
3. Program Management
- Develop and manage UMECC’s annual work plan in partnership with the Chief of Strategic Initiatives.
- Oversee the UMECC Call Center, ensuring families receive empathetic, informed care and follow-up support.
- Maintain well-organized files and records to ensure program sustainability and long-term impact.
- Use internal and external data sources to inform strategies and decision-making.
4. Grassroots Engagement & Action
- Conduct grassroots community organizing to build trust and relationships with families.
- Organize and convene stakeholder groups, including caregivers and partner organizations, to explore and achieve UMECC’s goals.
- Enhance outreach strategies by leveraging both grassroots and digital innovations.
- Attend community events to network, raise awareness, and promote UMECC’s mission.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in program coordination, project management, community organizing, and/or collective impact initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate with diverse audiences through multiple channels.
- Strong facilitation and relationship-building skills, with a proven track record of building trust across communities.
- Commitment to improving the health and well-being of children and families.
- Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and is willing to adapt and learn.
- Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
- Experience working within or alongside healthcare systems is a plus.
Salary and Benefits: The expected salary for this position is $100,000-$110,000. LINC offers medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 403B plan with employer contributions starting after one year of employment; 20 days PTO; paid holidays; and your birthday off.
