Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Family Literacy Specialist to join our team as a part-time contractor. The Specialist will play a vital role in directly supporting the parents of at least 40 children enrolled in our program. This position focuses on enhancing family involvement in education and improving literacy skills among parents, ensuring they have the tools to support their children’s learning and development effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging literacy support services to parents, helping them develop academic and health literacy skills.
- Facilitate learning activities involving children and their families, promoting interactive educational experiences.
- Provide parents access to valuable community resources related to education and childhood development.
- Educate parents about childhood developmental milestones and effective parenting strategies.
- Advocate for children within the school system, helping parents navigate educational processes and requirements.
- Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote family literacy initiatives.
- Conduct assessments to identify the specific needs of families and tailor support accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress with families.

Qualifications:
- Background in teaching, preferably with experience in Pre-K or K-12 education.
- Detailed knowledge of Fellsmere community resources and educational systems.
- Bilingual, with proficiency in Spanish to effectively communicate with diverse families.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and inspire families from various backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
Work Schedule:
This is a flexible part-time position, requiring approximately 15 hours per week. The schedule will be determined based on program needs and family availability.
