The Family Support Specialist implements the Parents as Teachers (PAT model, emphasizing parent- child interaction, development centered parenting, and family well-being in their work with families. Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curriculum in divers, equitable, and inclusive ways, the Family Support Specialist partners, facilitates, and reflects with families. This is accomplished by providing education in the form of personal visits, group meetings, screenings, and linkages to a network of resources for parents and children.

  • Oversees daily program operations to ensure adults receive the highest quality educational and support services; provides on-site supervision and assists in the coordination of program services.
  • Plans for the delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
  • Assesses family's needs and aids and case coordination to remove barriers to student participation in the program. Refers clients to appropriate community agencies. Works with agencies and service providers to facilitate case coordination and information sharing.
  • Assess family's needs and provide developmentally appropriate information, guidance, and support to parents.
  • Work with the PAT team to organize, plan, coordinate, and facilitate monthly group activities.
  • Serves as a career coach for all parents seeking employment and/or recently employed by maintaining communication with the employee and employer to promote job retention and support.
  • Enter all data into the database system.
  • Conducts all screenings, follow-ups and communicates effectively with students, agency and partner staff, and employers.
  • Works closely with local law enforcement agencies, schools, and health and welfare agencies to increase access and awareness of services, availability, and community coalitions.
  • Represent the Eagle Nest program at various community events supporting families and/or young children.
  • Networks with other agencies regularly to stay informed about services and resources.
  • Follow all SACC regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintains all confidential information.
  • Recruit initial caseload and engage in recruitment activities on a regular basis to replace exiting families.
  • Promoting a positive agency image and credibility by consistently demonstrating teamwork with LWNY staff and collaboration agencies while maintaining professional conduct.
  • Contributes to the LWNY team effort by participating in all other programs and activities as needed.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field
- Experience in child welfare and child protective services
- Proficiency in crisis intervention and management
- Knowledge of family law and conflict management
- Background in childcare or behavioral health
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
