Quality Technician
Lithotype Company, a 100% Employee-Owned flexo flexible packaging company in Bolingbrook, IL, is seeking an experienced Quality Technician to become an integral part of their team for 2nd Shift (2-10 pm)

Summary of Position: This position is responsible for performing activities and functions driven towards the execution of an effective Quality System. Responsible for activities of the suppliers, production, and customers to resolve quality problems and continuously improve the level of quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- They include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform frequent quality checks of packaging production against established specifications.
  • Responsible for implementing and sustaining quality procedures in conjunction with operating personnel on the production floor.
  • Collaborate with production departments to discuss quality and generate continuous improvement solutions that develop procedures and systems that drive quality improvement.
  • Inspecting incoming raw materials through random sampling against certificate of compliances provided and recording the data.
  • Compile all necessary data and generate non-conforming reports for out of specification product. Work with internal personnel and supply chain partners to develop corrective actions that reduce future non-conformances.
  • Actively leads internal teams to maintain internal audits for BRC compliance. This includes creating compliance procedures, risk analysis and conducting audits against the standards.
  • Lead the implementation of quality software technology across the organization.
  • Lead the implementation/continued use of color management software related to print production.
  • Develops and maintains a rapport with all customers and suppliers aimed at an expedient resolution of quality issues/problems.
  • Generate quality trends and root cause analysis by assembling data and analyzing the data and assembling reports that clearly communicates the data analytics.
  • Travel to customers to investigate and resolve quality issues. Submit a trip report to the manger and people connected to the project.

Education and/or Experience:

Associate degree or equivalent from a College or experience. Preferable to have experience in food manufacturing/food processing/packaging or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of food safety compliance and HACCP programs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to assemble, generate and interpret analytical data.
  • Positive can-do attitude
  • An initiator and willingness to collaborate and take action on issues that need improvement
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Experience in managing projects.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.

Desirable Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience in Quality Control Department
  • Knowledgeable of printing equipment, coating applications, packaging films.
  • Knowledge of printing and packaging processes, films, inks, and coatings.
  • Experience in flexible packaging, printing, and packaging environment.
  • Experience in food safety (BRC/SQF) and HACCP plan development and implementation.
  • Familiarity with QC equipment (Caliper/Seal Tester/Instron) and calibration (preventative maintenance) of QA equipment.
  • Experience with Audit like ISO,OSHA,AIB/BRC/SQF.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistical analysis, precision measurement, and algebra. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong skill set in the use of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software- Strong PC skills required. MS Office including databases and excel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
