Hours:
Part-time approximately 20 hours per week
Qualifications:
- A love and passion for working with elementary children required
- Experience leading small groups of students preferred
- Completion of high school or equivalent
Job Description:
- Demonstrate compassion, integrity, and respect in all interactions with students and colleagues, reflecting Biblical principles in both words and actions.
- Communicate regularly with classroom teachers and support staff to help carry out Individual Student Plans.
- Support students in test taking, project support and management, and classwork completion under the guidance of support staff.
- Lead small group instruction with minimal guidance from the classroom teacher
- Conduct progress monitoring assessments under the guidance of the support staff.
- Teach or re-teaching lessons with minimal teacher assistance
- Assisting the teacher with classroom management.
- Attend to minor issues to allow the teacher to focus on instruction
- Facilitate appropriate peer interactions and social skills (Use Anabaptist perspective of peacemaking)
- Assist the teacher in arranging classroom chairs, desks, material and equipment
- Guide students from one place to another during transitions
- Accompany students (e.g., in hallways, at lunch, and recess, and in special subject areas such as art and music)
- Correct papers, make photocopies, display student work, etc. as time allows
- Monitor lunchroom or playground as needed
