Service Shop Manager
POSITION PURPOSE: This position is responsible for efficiently and effectively managing the service shop operations in a fast paced construction company environment. Experience with heavy duty trucks, trailers and heavy equipment is a must.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the service shop, which performs service repairs and maintenance on company-owned equipment
- Manage work orders and assign them to the mechanic best suited to complete the job
- Recruit, motivate, mentor, and empower a high-performance service team to achieve company goals; measure team member success on an ongoing basis and coach/take corrective action as necessary
- Utilize current systems and processes for maintaining accurate DOT records
- Manage purchasing for the department, including analyzing the options and determining the best course of action
- Ensure the maintenance of the department is in good order and in accordance with safety requirements
- Coordinate training and development opportunities for mechanics
- Communicate and maintain a positive relationship with manufacturers’ representatives
- Create and implement process improvements to maximize efficiency and profitability
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Combination of education and work experience will be considered
- Must be highly creative, imaginative, positive, motivated and have the highest level of ethical standards
- Ability to work professionally and problem solve with all personalities and situations
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent computer skills (including Microsoft Office)
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and must be able to pass a criminal background screening
- 2-5 years management experience in a service shop environment
- Able to analyze and improve service operations
