Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a commitment to fostering the growth and development of young children. As a Preschool Teacher, you will create engaging lesson plans, implement curriculum, and provide a safe and stimulating classroom atmosphere that encourages exploration and learning.
About our school
Little Angels preschool was created in 2005 as a family daycare. Caring for children from the young age of 3 months to 6 years of age. In 2017 we expanded and opened a new site for children between the ages of 18 months - 5 years of age, In Bernal Heights. We are an inclusive, year round Reggio Emilia play based school. We also spend half of our day in outdoor exploration and physical play. The children are mixed age and the ratio for teacher to children is small, allowing teachers to really get to know each child as an individual and to create a strong bond with them. We love teaching through Art and nature and to create a strong bond between teacher and children, as well as Family, teacher and school. Our school is a small preschool, licensed to 20 children.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 12 ECE units, or AA degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. BA is preferred.
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children and young preschoolers.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create engaging and interactive lesson plans
- Proficiency in behavior management techniques
- Familiarity with special education strategies and accommodations
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners
Duties and responsibilities :
- Create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for preschool-aged children.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.
- Foster social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through play-based learning.
- Collaborate with parents and families to support each child's individual needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
- Observe and assess children's progress and communicate with parents/guardians regularly.
- Follow all licensing regulations and maintain required documentation.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and cater to the diverse needs of preschool students.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that encourages social interaction and emotional growth.
- Utilize effective classroom management strategies to maintain a positive and productive atmosphere.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive educational experience for students.
- Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of students by implementing policies and procedures that promote safety and respect.
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
Experience
- Previous experience in a private school or childcare setting is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability in lesson planning, classroom management, and working with students of varying abilities.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles, including literacy education and childhood development theories.
- Experience with curriculum development is a plus.
