Your Mission:
In this role, the Indirect Tax Analyst provides tax expertise related to U.S. and international indirect tax matters for Little Caesars, Blue Line, and other related business entities. This role is responsible for tax research, compliance, audits, and communication of tax developments. The position will also support tax-related technology implementations, including Vertex integrations to Caesar Vision (cloud-based Point of Sale software) and Oracle ERP, and provide guidance on tax implications for business operations.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
- Prepare, review, and file U.S. Sales & Use Tax, Gross Receipts, B&O Tax, Canadian GST/HST/PST/QST, and other indirect tax returns.
- Research taxability of products, services, and transactions across various jurisdictions and provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Register entities for Sales & Use Tax, VAT, GST/HST, PST, and other indirect taxes as needed.
- Audit customer tax exemptions annually and request renewals when necessary.
- Draft tax memoranda related to indirect tax positions and compliance matters.
- Assist with sales and use tax audits by providing necessary reports, tax mapping details, and compliance documentation.
- Act as a liaison with external tax consultants, attorneys, and tax authorities to resolve tax discrepancies and ensure compliance.
- Provide tax support to franchisees, including POS taxation, taxability of billings, and other related concerns.
- Oversee and support the implementation of indirect tax technology solutions, including Vertex OSeries with Oracle ERP and Caesar Vision POS, ensuring tax settings and rates comply with jurisdictional rules.
- Address tax discrepancies in Vertex, coordinate with internal teams and vendors, and document issues and resolutions for audit purposes.
- Provide guidance on jurisdictional tax requirements, including regulatory licenses, receipts, and tax invoice presentation.
- Support the tax department with special projects, including research on tax implications for new business initiatives (e.g., fundraising, marketplace delivery, cross-border sales, not-for-profit ventures).
- Ensure compliance with special taxes such as restaurant, hospitality, and tourism taxes that impact the Quick Service Restaurant industry.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop reports and ensure tax-related business requirements are met.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in corporate tax, tax research, or indirect tax compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals in both written and verbal formats.
- Experience with indirect tax software and ERP systems such as Oracle.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with the ability to work across departments.
What Will Make You Stand Out:
- Master’s degree in Taxation, MBA, JD or CPA preferred.
- Previous experience in audit compliance with Federal, state and local jurisdictions a plus.
- Familiarity with Vertex OSeries & VITR software, or comparable tax engine and tax return software a plus
