Job Title: Assistant Child Care Teacher

Overview:
Little Darlings Childcare Learning Center is looking for a nurturing and enthusiastic Assistant Child Care Teacher who is ready to support a positive and engaging environment for young children. The Assistant Teacher will work under the direct supervision of a qualified Child Care Teacher and help maintain a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate classroom for children to learn and grow.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent required
- Must work under the direct supervision of a qualified Child Care Teacher
- Ability to work well with children, families, and team members
- Must demonstrate patience, a positive attitude, and professionalism
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and implementing daily classroom activities as directed by the Lead Teacher
- Help set up the classroom environment each day, including learning centers, materials, and supplies
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude toward all children, families, and coworkers
- Contribute to a clean, organized, and inviting classroom space
- Participate in staff meetings and attend required training sessions
- Support classroom cleaning duties and help uphold hygiene and safety standards
- Present a professional physical appearance at all times
Daily Expectations:
- Be ready to engage and interact with children upon entering the classroom
- Eat only during designated break times; no personal food in supply areas
- Limit personal phone use; only use during breaks or with director approval
- Remain in assigned classroom throughout the day unless directed otherwise
- Avoid personal or adult-focused conversations while in the classroom
- Use calm, respectful communication with children at all times
- Keep full attention on the children—stay engaged in their activities and play
- Monitor and support children's toileting, diapering, and hand-washing routines
- Maintain constant supervision, including regularly counting children to ensure safety
- Engage in positive, age-appropriate interactions with children at their level
- Be a comforting and supportive presence for any child having a rough day
- Keep personal belongings stored appropriately and maintain classroom professionalism
- Complete any classroom prep (projects, decor, newsletters) during rest times only
- Reinforce good behavior and gently re-direct when needed
- Be flexible and responsive—adjust activities if children need a change in pace or energy
