Instructional Assistant Pool (2024-2025)

Job Title: Instructional Assistant

Reports to: Campus Principal

Dept.: Campus as assigned

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Primary Purpose:

Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements.  Work under supervision of certified teacher.

Qualifications: Education/Certification:

· High School diploma or GED

· Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

· Experience working with children

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

· Assists teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.

· Assists with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments and work assignments.

· Helps maintain neat and orderly classroom.

· Helps with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment.

· Helps teacher keep administrative records and prepares required reports.

· Provides orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

· Conducts instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; works with individual students or small groups.

· Helps supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus and playground duty.

· Keeps teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.

· Assists with records of individual students.

· Compiles, maintains and files instructional materials.

· Performs other duties as assigned.
