Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and caring Assistant Summer Camp Teacher to support our lead teacher in providing daily lessons, activities, and field trips for our school-age campers. As an assistant, you’ll play a key role in facilitating engaging educational activities, promoting a positive environment, and ensuring children’s safety and enjoyment. You will also help with coordinating guest speakers, supporting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) projects, and assisting with journaling activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lessons and activities.
- Support campers in STEAM projects, journaling exercises, and other creative learning activities.
- Help supervise weekly field trips and ensure camper safety.
- Assist with organizing and welcoming guest speakers.
- Support the classroom environment by maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Provide individual or small group assistance to children as needed.
- Help manage camper behavior in a positive and respectful manner.
- Follow all HHS licensing standards and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about daily activities and camper progress.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Previous experience working with children in a camp or educational setting is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, patient attitude.
- Interest in supporting children’s learning and development in a summer camp environment.
- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from the lead teacher.
- Knowledge or interest in STEAM education is a plus.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to follow HHS licensing standards and guidelines.
