Little Island’s Park Attendants are the frontline stewards of the park, and ensure a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable environment for visitors. As a key member of the Park Operations team, Park Attendants actively contribute to maintaining the park’s beauty, cleanliness, and safety while creating a memorable experience for all who visit. Attendants will work collaboratively with staff across various departments and assist in day-to-day operations, problem-solving, and park maintenance. The Park Operations department includes Park Supervisors, Custodians, Facilities Staff, Horticulture staff, and Administrators, all working together to support the public’s experience.
As a Park Attendant, you’ll be part of a dynamic, collaborative team committed to creating an exceptional public space. You’ll have the opportunity to work in a beautiful outdoor setting, engaging with a diverse community of park visitors while ensuring their experience is safe and enjoyable. This role also offers valuable hands-on experience in park operations, event coordination, safety protocols, and customer service, helping you develop skills that are transferable to a variety of fields.
About the Role
- Hourly Rate: $21.00

- Employment Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
- Schedule Expectations: Flexible, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts
- Work Environment: Onsite, park-based job
- Onboarding Days: March 6 & 7, 2025
- Employment Duration: March 9, 2025 – November 2, 2025
What You’ll Do
- Greet and assist visitors with information about the park’s features, rules, programming, food offerings, and events.
- Monitor park conditions and visitor safety, de-escalate conflicts, follow emergency protocols, and maintain high visual standards during peak visitation or staffing shortages.
- Assist with the opening and closing procedures, event setups and breakdowns, and support park-wide initiatives such as stanchion placements, visitor flow, and activity engagement
- Report hazards, park damage, and safety issues using designated communication channels.
- Work alongside custodial and facilities teams to maintain cleanliness and perform light cleaning tasks as needed.
- Assist in tracking park visitation numbers and contribute to other operational needs.
- Perform other duties and tasks related to the park and its operations as assigned.
What You Bring
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
- Proven reliability, punctuality, and good judgement in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or unexpected situations.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods, move throughout the park, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfort working in various weather conditions, including light rain, summer heat, and direct sunlight.
- Experience with safety protocols is a plus. OSHA 10 certification preferred, or willingness to complete OSHA 10 training.
- Ability to converse in multiple languages (Spanish, French, Mandarin, American Sign Language, etc.) is a plus.
