What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Worker I, 2.0 hours per day position at Little Lake City School District?
DEFINITION:
Under supervision to maintain food service facilities and equipment in a neat, clean, safe and sanitary condition; to assist in the preparation, setting up, serving and selling of food; and to do other related work as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
- Participate in the preparation, packaging, heating and serving of foods, including the preparation of sandwiches, salads, relishes, hot entrees and a variety of other foods
- Butter bread, cuts cakes and fresh fruits for serving
- Serve and sell hot and cold foods, salads, beverages, desserts and snacks
- Package food following predetermined portion control standards
- Assist in maintaining the food service facility to a safe, clean and sanitary condition
- May assist in the preparation of entrees, vegetables, salads, salad dressings and desserts
- May assist in receiving and storing of foodstuffs, supplies and materials
- May act as a cashier
- Wash and store utensils, containers and trays
- Clean serving counters, tables, chairs, food containers and other equipment
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Basic methods and procedures for preparing and serving food in large quantities
- Standard food service terminology, appliances and equipment
- Sanitation and safety practices and procedures
- Basic arithmetical calculations and measurement processes
Ability to:
- Operate and maintain food service related equipment
- Collect money and make change accurately
- Work efficiently and effectively
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
