We are seeking an educated preschool teacher to join our team of vibrant, and excellent teachers. The goal is to contribute to the healthy social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child helping them to grow to their greatest potential.   • Has a good understanding of child development and can implement best practices and research based positive discipline approach.
  • Has the ability to implement teaching techniques that have been researched to be best practice in the field of early childhood education and as used by our program
  • Can demonstrate through implementation an understanding of Title 22 Rules and Regulation that we are required to follow, especially as related to health and safety, supervision, and cleanliness.
  • Is a team player, mature, committed, honest, and dependable
  • Will be an active participant in sharing ideas and using your knowledge to enhance the program, including participating in the mandatory monthly staff meetings and the events we provide throughout the year.
  • Implementing the program using the schools philosophy using High/Scope. HIgh/scope is an educational research facility that is known worldwide for researching developmentally appropriate practices and providing many resources. Educated teachers know that this is what you have learned in your child development college coursework. We put this into practice. We're happy to share the information, support, and "teach" a qualified candidate

Responsibilities

  • Along with co-teachers develop and implement a carefully planned active learning program for preschool children for small group time (Language, literacy, math, science) Large group time (music and movement) work time (choice time with a planning and review time for children) outside time, opportunity to visit the farm (goats and chickens) lots of opportunities to interact with friends, teachers and materials.
  • Use the High/Scope research based program.
  • Employ a variety of appropriate educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, etc.) to teach children
  • Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and emotional development
  • Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve conflicts in appropriate ways including a problem by solving approach to conflict.
  • Organize small and large group lessons, snack, nap, and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
  • Track children’s progress, prepare child portfolios and report to parents injury reports, illness reports,
  • Communicate with parents regularly. Develop at trusting relationship with parents, teachers, management, and children.
  • Collaborate with co-teachers and administration as required.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
  • Incorporate our Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom into daily/weekly lessons. This includes our animals (goats, chickens, rabbit, and gecko.
  • Maintain a positive, respectful and tactful demeanor

Skills

  • Ability to guide and teach children using research based best practices.
  • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and ability to implement the program
  • Implement safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
  • Excellent communication and instructional skills as demonstrated in practice.
  • Ability to act as facilitator between children using problem solving approach to conflict
  • Understanding of Title 22 and ability to implement and enforce the guidelines.
  • Nurturing, friendly and reliable

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prefer BA degree in child development. But, will consider 18 ECE units-AA degree in child development. Pay schedule is based on experience as listed in the job description, education, and ability to implement the program. Coursework must include child development, child, family and community, and preschool curriculum
  • Exact shift to be discussed (usually 8:15-5:15 or part time if available either am or pm shift) But, may be altered for needs of school .
  • Mandated Reporter Training certificate (to be kept up to date for employment)
  • Pesticide Training Certificate (to be kept up to date for employment to continue)
  • Certification in infant, child & adult CPR required shortly after hire and kept up to date
  • Health and safety in a childcare setting required shortly after hire

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Working with preschool-age children in Center-based program with "teacher" responsibilities and duties including supervision under the direction of the Director and fully qualified staff.
  • Utilizing developmentally appropriate practices, completing and implementing lesson plans, and preparing assessments

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proof of Immunizations or immunity (MMR & DTP)
  • Health Screening completed by physician & TB negative test indicated
  • Clear fingerprint background check to be completed prior to hire.
  • Sexual Harassment Training required by the State of California. To be kept up to date to maintain employment)
