Certified Diabetic Educator- RN
Part-Time or Full -Time Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY:
The Certified Diabetes Educator is responsible for the planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating all facets of the diabetes education program at Little River Medical Center. Primary instructor for providing diabetes education on a day-to-day basis; responsible for educational outcomes and meeting the National Standards of the American Association of Diabetes Educators to assure third party reimbursement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but not limited to:
- Maintains the American Association of Educator’s Standards of Care.
- Ensure compliance through education and measurement
- Keeps abreast of state and national diabetes health care and self-management trends.
- Obtain and maintain the three-year recognition from the American Association of Diabetes Educators Association as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.
- Maintain Medicare guidelines for education and reimbursement.
- Monitor Behavior Change Goal outcomes, analyze then develop a plan for improvement.
- Monitor a specific patient outcome, measure to evaluate effectiveness one to three months post program.
- Identifies diabetes management needs of patients and/or families.
- Plans and implements diabetes and nutrition education programs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- RN or RD with extensive medical /surgical experience and diabetes management/education.
- Master’s degree in nursing or health related field and 3 years in diabetes management/education or a BSN in nursing and 4 years management experience in diabetes management/education.
