Maintenance/Fleet Specialist- Transporter
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing transportation services for patients. The position is also responsible for performing minor facility maintenance tasks, transporting equipment and medications, consulting with contractors, providing vehicle and building safety checks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for facility/vehicle repairs and improvements within the skill level of the employee to include but not limited to activities such as painting, hanging pictures, putting together furniture, changing lights and air filters, relocating boxes, and furniture, etc.
- Assist management in the coordination of more complex facility/vehicle repairs and improvements as needed by contacting contractors, obtaining bids and managing the progress of work done.
- Performs monthly vehicle and building safety inspections.
- Performs annual and monthly replacements of facility items.
- Performs monthly building safety inspections as needed.
- Assists with the efficient and compassionate transporting of LRMC patients to and from our locations.
- Plans and coordinates patient transportation by interacting with Transportation Coordinator, scheduling, coworkers, and patients.
- Assures cleanliness of vehicle on a daily basis.
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle.
- Utilizes all restraints to properly secure wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs and scooters when applicable.
- Assists Transportation Coordinator with monthly vehicle safety inspections as needed.
- Move company vehicles including RVs to events/sites/repair facilities and other locations as needed.
- Set up RVs, fill/empty tanks, and perform minor interior/exterior maintenance as needed.
- Ensures vehicle driven is safe, reliable, and meets all state and federal operational requirements.
- Inspects and reports any vehicle damage or malfunction to facility manager or transportation coordinator.
- Assists with setup and teardown at company events, meetings, and trainings. Storm preparation/cleanup may be required. Weekend and evening hours may be required. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to provide professional and compassionate care when transporting patients.
- Ability to be sensitive to patient needs and situations.
- Ability to provide confidentiality of patient information and relays information to only employees that need to know.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated and self-directed while staying on course with overall company objectives.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school Diploma or GED required.
- Must be knowledgeable in basic vehicle maintenance.
- Must be knowledgeable in basic building maintenance.
- Facility maintenance experience is preferred.
- Experience with maintaining and operating RV equipment preferred.
- Experience in transporting patients to and from appointments preferred.
- Experience with wheelchair lifts and tie-downs preferred.
VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Individual must meet the requirements of the fleet vehicle policy.
- Individual must have the ability to utilize a personal and company vehicle that is registered, insured, and meets all state and federal requirements.
- Must be approved by insurance company after submitting a 10-year DMV driving record.
