Description
Scope of Responsibilities :
Basic to comprehensive understanding of all treatment processes including : PC Interface, Preliminary Treatment, Primary Clarification, Solids Thickening, Activated Sludge, Digestion Process, Solids Dewatering, Chlorination, UV Disinfection, Recycled Water, Electric Generation, Secondary Clarification, and PC Interface.
Examples of Duties
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Operates the plant in an effective manner to maintain permit compliance - including possible night shift operation of the Adams Field and Fourche Creek facilities with only one person on shift.
- Identifies, reports, and corrects hazards, and adheres to safety procedures in order to contribute to a safe work environment.
- Monitors, adjusts, and maintains biological wastewater treatment processes.
- Analyzes, determines, and applies mathematical calculations to plant processes to effectively operate advanced treatment, chlorination, solids handling, and electrical generation processes.
- Collects, preserves, and stores plant process samples.
- Initiates, completes, and submits all job-related documentation to provide communication with supervisor and peers to ensure that accurate records are maintained.
- May perform supervisory responsibilities in plant operations / maintenance / training.
- Follows safety practices and guidelines at all times.
- Undertakes any reasonable request within capabilities that is for the good of the community and the Utility.
Typical Qualifications
Qualifications : Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience & Training
For Operator - Grade 9
PREFERRED :
For Operator I - Grade 10
For Senior Operator - Grade 12
