Job Summary:
The Preschool Teacher Aide for Little Scholar Preschool Program assists the lead teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. This role supports classroom management, student engagement, and instructional activities to foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in preschool-aged children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans, activities, and learning experiences aligned with the program’s curriculum.
- Supervise children to ensure a safe and positive environment, assisting in transitions and daily routines.
- Provide individualized attention to students as needed to support their learning and development.
- Set up and organize classroom materials, resources, and learning centers.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness and ensure toys, supplies, and equipment are sanitized regularly.
- Assist with meal/snack distribution and encourage healthy eating habits.
- Support children in developing independence, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills.
- Observe and document children’s behavior and progress, reporting any concerns to the lead teacher.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Assist in toileting, diapering, and hygiene routines as needed.
- Uphold and enforce school policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Enrolled in Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field preferred.
- Experience working with young children in a preschool, daycare, or educational setting preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and obtain any required state licensing/certifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework or training in Early Childhood Education (ECE).
- Knowledge of child development principles and classroom management techniques.
- Familiarity with play-based, hands-on learning approaches.
