JOB OBJECTIVE:
Provides good public relations with the community and visitors. Receives all persons entering the building with cordial respect, providing them with the information requested, directing them to the proper person or places. These services are consistent with the Home's standards and philosophy and are in compliance with all regulations, codes, policies and procedures that govern the facility.
JOB STANDARDS:
1. High School graduate or equivalency.
2. Well-groomed, patient, courteous.
3. Able to speak, write and understand English and have a pleasant speaking voice.
4. Hearing is adequate to perform telephone usage and converse
5. Display calm, levelheaded nature especially in emergencies and at busy times.
6. Have a sense of responsibility.
7. Have a thorough knowledge of the Home's operation and physical layout.
8. Able to treat Resident's and Home information with confidentiality.
9. Able to cooperate with other personnel.
10. Able to learn and efficiently operate the phone and beeper systems.
11. Make decisions displaying good judgment.
12. Receive and deliver messages accurately and in a timely manner.
13. Possess the ability to perform the *essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- 1. Answer telephone; determine the nature of call and direct caller to appropriate individual or department, screen calls as requested.
- 2. Receive and deliver accurate messages in a timely and prompt manner.
3. Able to listen with empathy to Resident and family concerns.
- 4. Uphold and enforce Home's security plan, sign in and out, monitor surveillance camera and only allow entrance of those recognized.
- 5. Direct physicians, sales representatives, workmen, admission inquiries, job applicants, and anyone requesting assistance to proper person.
- 6. Accept mail deliveries, prepare mail for delivery, accept donations and direct to proper personnel.
- 7. Report suspicious person/information to supervisor immediately.
- 8. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment in the reception area.
- 9. Maintain confidentiality of all Resident, departmental and organizational information to assure that Residents' rights are protected.
- 10. Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to supervisor as soon as possible.
- 11. Strive for optimal use of supplies, materials, keeping in mind cost and budget limitations.
- 12. Assure that the work assignment area is neat, clean and left in order when leaving for breaks, end of day, etc.
- 13. Assist with and perform clerical and other duties as directed by supervisor.
- 14. Maintain a current file/listing to include Residents by name and room number, emergency phone numbers, department extensions, key personnel.
- 15. Work effectively and cooperatively with all departments or other disciplines.
- 16. Monitor the activity of confused Residents when they are in the reception area. Contact unit staff if there is any question as to a Resident leaving the building unattended.
- 17. Must be available to work every other holiday and demonstrate flexibility in covering work schedules for co-workers in the event of vacations, illness, or emergencies.
- 18. Understand fire and emergency procedures, promptly contacting proper authorities, utilizing sound judgment and remaining calm.
- 19. Observe dress and conduct codes, including wearing identification badge.
- 20. Meet attendance standards as established and provide proper absence.
- 21. Complete duties in prescribed time.
- 22. Follow all safety, security, exposure control and hazardous waste policies and procedures.
- 23. Attend in-services and department meetings. Complete Relias coursework.
