What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper position at Little Sisters of the Poor?
Summary/Objective
Responsible for performing landscaping tasks to maintain the grounds of the Home. These services are consistent with the home's standards and philosophy and are in compliance with all regulations, codes, policies and procedures that govern the facility.
Requirements and Qualifications:
1. Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have a good driving record.
2. A minimum of grammar school education is essential, a high school education or equivalent is preferred.
3. Familiarity with landscaping equipment and knowledge of gardening techniques and gardening products such as fertilizers and pesticides.
4. Speak and understand spoken and written English.
5. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
6. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Essential Functions:
1. Prepare outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing which includes covering outdoor furniture with tarps, tying down unsecured items, etc.
2. Snow removal of all sidewalks, pathways, and emergency exits.
3. Removal of debris from the property, making frequent trips to the local landfill.
4. Maintain rosebushes, trees, and other foliage which includes trimming and watering as needed.
5. Remove dead trees and other foliage as needed.
6. Maintain gardens and lawns including planting, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching, and applying pesticides.
7. Perform structural work which includes painting and completing small building repairs.
8. Ensure gardening and landscaping equipment is maintained and operating properly.
9. Order supplies and equipment as needed.
10. Keep storage building neat and orderly.
11. Perform any other duties necessary to fulfill the primary duties and responsibilities of the position, as well as those assigned by management personnel.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.50 per hour
