Little Sprouts is currently seeking a physical education teacher to join our team. Little Sprouts is a network of 39 preschools and early learning centers across New England. This is an independent contractor position.

\n- Education in Physical Education/Health/Nutrition. Degree related to Education/Health/Nutrition preferred.
- Previous experience in working with children required. Practicum, internship, or volunteer sites accepted as experience.
- Ability to travel to multiple sites in (MA and NH) or (CT) or (VT)regularly and reliably.
- Must have excellent organizational and initiative-taking skills.
- Must be able to self-direct as well as work as a part of a team.
- Must have excellent communication and listening skills.
- Must be willing to give and receive feedback in a professional manner.
- Must be adaptable, creative, and high energy.
- Physical endurance means standing on feet for up to 90% of the day and may include lifting up to 30 pounds, sitting on the floor and crouching down, and performing gym activities with children, including running, jumping, etc.
- Lead physical education related activities for a classroom of young children ages 2-5 for a minimum of 30 minutes for Toddlers and 30 minutes for Preschool and Kindergarten.
- Work directly with and involve the classroom teacher in the physical education class so they participate and support each other during the class.
- Prepare for leading groups including reviewing curriculum, making sure you have all necessary props, materials and ready to conduct classes.
- Work directly with school leaders on visits, classroom schedule and feedback.
- Responsible for personal inventory of gym materials, provided by Little Sprouts. Must sanitize and be accountable for them as much as possible.
- Create monthly lesson plans for each age group using provided template: Toddler and Preschool and submit to Director of Curriculum and Development
- Conduct structured physical education classes that focus on the health and physical development of each individual child.
- Set monthly goals for each class to accomplish.
- Interact with children one on one and in large groups with physical activities, games, and exercises.
- Responsible for lesson planning and presentation of developmentally appropriate curriculum materials that address all the needs and interests of the children.
- Work with directors to provide feedback.
- Responsible for planning a Winter and Summer Olympics
- Responsible for cleanliness and organization of gym area and materials
- Responsible for conducting weekly/biweekly classes out of the school year.
- Travel to personal roster of schools, sometimes more than one per day, in a timely manner to lead weekly physical education classes to classrooms of toddlers-preschool. The average number of students per classroom is 6-20 and daily average classrooms visited is 6 to 12.
- Work with other physical education teacher(s) to plan curriculum and align lessons and activities.
- Prepare and lead occasional training for teachers on incorporating physical education into their classroom.
- Attend professional development trainings provided by Little Sprouts and research/propose outside development opportunities for team.
- A few times a year, lead large group physical education events during family open-houses or other special events.
