Location:Little Tokyo Service Center (Downtown LA office)
Salary and Benefits: $90,000 - $114,000; DOE
Employment Status: Full-time; Exempt position with benefits. This is a grant-funded position with an initial funding period through January 2027.

Background: For over 40 years, Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) has provided a safety net of social welfare and community development services to empower people and communities in need. LTSC provides culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the Japanese American community in the Southland, builds multi-family affordable housing projects to uplift low-income neighborhoods of color throughout Los Angeles, and promotes equitable development and cultural preservation in the Little Tokyo neighborhood. Summary of Duties: The Project Manager will be responsible for providing support to wildfire survivors seeking to rebuild their homes. They will work in partnership with disaster case managers that will connect wildfire survivors with resources and provide guidance and tools as they recover from the 2025 wildfires disaster. The Project Manager is a key member of LTSCs real estate team that is partnering with LTSCs social services department to help community members recover from the 2025 California wildfires.
Responsibilities Include: The Project Manager is responsible for providing construction support for wildfire survivors participating in home rebuilds or repairs. They will utilize their background/knowledge to ensure survivors are receiving reasonable bids for rebuild/repair services, navigating/verifying insurance claims, navigating state and local building codes and permitting processes, and preventing scams by ensuring survivors utilize a licensed contractor. The Project Manager will provide support to various areas of rebuild/repair services but, they will not complete any repair or rebuild services for survivors. As part of a larger team, Project Managers are responsible for providing project management support across all phases of development, and other duties that may be assigned by the departments director. The Project Manager will have access to other team members to consult with as needed to ensure that homeowners are able to respond to a changing and evolving set of circumstances. The Project Manager will need to travel to meet with homeowners.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Minimum 2 years experience in disaster recovery management, affordable housing development, construction and rehabilitation administration, or related field;
- Previous or current contractors license;
- Minimum Bachelors degree; graduate degree in Urban Planning, Business, Real Estate, or related field preferred;
- Strong initiative and ability to manage competing demands with tight deadlines;
- Strong written and verbal communication;
- Strong quantitative and computer skills; proficiency in financial analysis using Microsoft Excel preferred;
- Experience managing relationships with public funding agencies, building & safety and planning departments, and community stakeholders in moving a project forward;
- Interest in social services and real estate development at a community-based nonprofit in a multicultural environment
- California drivers license and access to insured automobile
Equivalent education or experience can be substituted for all minimum qualifications, except when legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration, are required. While this position is advertised as hybrid, regular in-person work at LTSC's headquarters and in the field is required as part of the role.
