SUMMARY: Oversees IT for the LTBB Health Department. Works in conjunction with LTBB IT Department to ensure that LTBB Health Department IT needs are met. Supports electronic health record system. Supports all computer operations of the Health Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Health Specific IT Responsibilities:
- Provides excellent customer service to clients, vendors and fellow employees. Represents the LTBB Health Department in a professional and positive manner
- Learn current EMR system (RPMS) site manager responsibilities and ensure duties are carried out efficiently
- Assist with transition to new EMR system (EPIC EHR) including providing key support during build, user acceptance testing, system testing, and training
- Support organization during go live of new system and engage in continuous improvement activities as stabilization of new system is achieved
- Monitor error queues and troubleshoot system issues in current and future EMR systems
- Identify, assess, and troubleshoot application and equipment issues as they occur
- Track departmental IT needs through an IT ticketing system and provide data as needed to leadership
- Assist in developing evaluation methods to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement
- Engage in intensive training and continuing education to build departmental knowledge and skills to deliver high quality IT services to entire Health Department
- Schedule all patch updates and maintenance and communicate changes to staff as necessary
- Troubleshoot issues and work with Bemidji area staff and national OIT staff to support RPMS programs and EHR as needed
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with the Health Information Manager/Clinical Applications Coordinator to maintain health IT systems
- Perform ongoing information risk assessments and audits to ensure that information systems are adequately protected and meet all applicable federal regulations, including HIPAA certification requirements
- Consults with Health Department Administration and LTBB IT staff for application of system and studies or testing of certain equipment and application reporting requirements.
- Provides written narrative reports as requested.
Health Department Computer Support in adherence to LTBB IT Department direction:
- PC and laptop hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Adding, editing, and mapping workstations to established network
- Laser and inkjet printer installation and maintenance.
- Installation and support of various other PC/laptop peripherals.
- Installation and support of various desktop applications including Microsoft Office, Adobe software, anti-virus software per LTBB MIS standards.
- Installation and support of LTBB telephone systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR systems, preferably EPIC)
- Associate degree in related field or four years of documented IT work experience, with at least minimum of three years Health IT experience.
- A thorough understanding of computers and networking related to health care.
- Possess knowledge of existing EHR policies and procedures associated with the collection and distribution of clinical data.
- Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows 10 and 11 operating systems.
- Knowledge of VMware vSphere platform.
- Strong analytical, organizational, technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Capable of supporting multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must work cooperatively in a team environment.
- In-depth knowledge of the HIPAA Security Rule and other government technology laws.
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Information Systems
- Thorough understanding of computers and networking.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows 10 and 11.
- Familiarity with TCP/IP networking, including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and subnetting.
- Proven track record in IT support.
- Proficiency with server-based software and network operating systems, primarily Windows Server 2016 and 2019 with Active Directory.
- Familiarity with Cisco and HP/Aruba routers and switches, installation of data/phone cabling, Mitel VOIP and voicemail systems, Ubiquiti Unifi wireless systems, ManageEngine Endpoint Central, VMWare vSphere, desktop hardware and software lifecycle management, and implementing new IT systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
- Proficient in project management.
- Medical terminology/clinical experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and be insurable for duration of employment.
COMMENTS: Indian preference will apply. Candidates must pass a comprehensive background investigation. Individual must take a TB test, and get annual influenza vaccination due to working in a healthcare environment. Candidate must follow all COVID pandemic and future pandemic guidelines.
ABOUT US: On Sept. 21, 1994, the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians (LTBB) was federally reaffirmed with the signing of Public Law 103-324. The Tribe is governed by a nine-member Tribal Council who serve staggered terms. The LTBB Government presently employs over 200 employees across more than 20 departments, ranging from Healthcare to Natural Resources.
