Little Yellow House Art (LYHA) was founded as an Art Enrichment Program that fosters appreciation for art through interactive art classes. For the last 10 years, we have partnered with community organizations and independent schools, to offer robust after-school art programs that encourage a love of learning through creating, questioning, and fun.
Little Yellow House Art has an opening for a P/T Art teacher for the 2025 school year from February/March until the end of June with the opportunity to extend. This teaching opportunity is located in our Van Nuys location. These classes focus on wood sculpture . The hours range between 2:30pm-5:30pm Wednesdays and Thursdays. Candidates must enjoy working with kids ages 5 - 10 and have the know how to make learning fun and inspiring while also exhibiting a professional demeanor.
Ideal candidates should be honest, kind, dependable and ENJOY working with children in a classroom setting. LYHA's goal is to provide high quality and reliable art instruction to the after school programs of independent schools across Los Angeles. Our teachers are responsible for implementing LYHA's curriculum into 60 minute block settings in a classroom provided by our school accounts. Class size does not exceed 14 students.
Responsibilities Include:
- Pick up and or drop off materials for each term to/from the home office in Culver City West/Del Rey 1-2 times per month
- Arrive at least 1/2 hour before class begins
- Bring all supplies to and from the classroom
- Set up and clean up of all materials
- Engage and support all students in creating their art by creatively implementing the themes and curriculum created by LYHA
- Establish and maintain expected standards of student behavior while maintaining an inspiring, positive, and safe classroom atmosphere
- Build relationships with students and staff
- An understanding of how to implement positive classroom management
- Participate in quarterly planning meetings
- Great communication skills
- Must be dependable and have a strong work ethic
- Be flexible in and out of the classroom and able to drive to different locations within the city of LA
- Must have dependable transportation
- Participate in planning meetings that occur once per term.
