Overview: Responsible for daily management of the surgical and outpatient barn and stalls.
Who are we looking for? The ideal candidate is reliable, willing to work hard and learn new things with a working knowledge of horses and the veterinary field with the ability to multi-task and a team-player.
Wage and Benefits: $18-$19 per hour. This is a Part-Time position (20 hrs) on Saturday and Sunday. Benefits include a generous employee discount, and continued education stipend.
Starting Responsibilities:

Perform daily cleaning of stalls

Feed patients daily according to veterinary instructions

Water patients and ensure access to clean water at all times
-
Strip and clean stalls
-
Prepare stalls for incoming patients
-
Clean contaminated stalls according to biosecurity protocol

Monitoring patients and reporting any issue to veterinarians and/or ICU technician

Landscape including weed eating, mowing, and watering

Assist with patients as requested
Qualifications
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience: Prior equine experience is required.
Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one on one, in small group situations, to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability: Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, add subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Computer literacy in common computer software programs. Ability to gain proficiency using HVMS preferred.
Special Skills: Equine restraint/handling and horsemanship skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions throughout all four seasons. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of radiation and chemical exposure. Knowledge of MSDS use and personal protective gear including (but not limited to) gloves, masks and eyewash stations are required. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
