POSITION SUMMARY:
The Teacher of Visually Impaired (TVI) has the following roles and responsibilities:
Has primary responsibility for specialized instruction and services required to meet the unique educational needs of students with visual impairments.
Experience working with students with disabilities preferred. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Strong classroom management skills. Knowledge in assessment and IEP development.
DUTIES:
Instruct students in coordination with a standards based curriculum and within the framework of district and state content standards. Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, and staff required. Working knowledge of subject matter assigned, classroom management, best practices and strategies, students' learning styles and needs. Duties may also include small group instruction, providing interventions for students, working cooperatively with counseling and administration to support teachers and students.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Successful applicants must be properly licensed for assignment as a Professional Educator according to the Colorado Department of Education.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: (Annual salary schedule based on 1.0 FTE)
WORK YEAR: 187 contract days
