SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the month end close process, preparing financial reports, grant management, overseeing the daily accounting functions and assisting with all audits of the financial records. The Accounting Manager will play a key role ensuring accuracy and on-time reporting of all finanancial, grant reporting and other governmental reporting requirements as required by Littleton Regional Hospital. In collaboration with the Controller will establish, monitor and ensure that all policies/procedures are properly follow and meet GAAP/Internal Control standards.

Duties
Financial Reporting
- Manages the daily accounting functions and all general ledger operations
- Ensures accuracy and integrity of the financial statements in accordance to GAAP and company policies
- Manages the month end and annual end close processes, ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Performs and ensures accuracy of all account reconciliations including all balance sheet accounts and cash
- Works closely with auditors during the annual audit
- Assists, as necessary with the annual cost report, 990 and budget preparation actual results to budget standards
- Provides tracking, monitoring, reporting as well as compliance for all private, state and federal grants
- Responsible for staying up to date with changes in accounting regulations including by not limited to GAAP, federal, state and awarded grants.
- Provides reporting and support for all financial needs as per the needs of the finance department and hospital stakeholders
- Assists with selection, training, evaluations and mentoring staff.
- Will adhere to all Littleton Regional Hospital policies and standards of conduct
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Detailed knowledge and experience of GAAP, standard internal controls and accounting standards, budgeting, billing and collection of Medicare/Medicaid accounts and third-party payers, financial software programs, Accounts Payable and Payroll. Has experience in working with external auditors and 990
- Preferred experience in Third Party payers, DSH and Medicare/Medicaid Cost Reporting and Electronic Records
- Proficiency in word processing applications, spreadsheet applications, and computer-based accounting and information systems
- Written and oral communication skills to present financial information to department heads, clinical personnel without a financial background, the CEO, and board of directors; poise, confidence and tact to interact with personnel from all levels of the organization
- Three years' experience in the accounting field with preference to healthcare and/or Critical Access Hospitals
- Preferred experience with Third-Party payer
- Three years prior healthcare experience and/or Critical Access Hospital with prior management experience preferred
- Proficiency in word processing applications, spreadsheet applications, and computer-based accounting and information systems
