What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Special Education Teacher position at Littleville Elementary School?
Gateway Regional School District is seeking two Elementary School Special Education Teachers. Candidates will hold a current MA (K-8) Student with Moderate Disabilities certification. Must have experience educating students with a wide range of disabilities including SLD, ADHD, High Functioning Autism, Social Emotional. The ideal candidate will be able to deliver and manage academic and behavioral support and interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
●Supports students by providing appropriate accommodations and modification of curriculum for special education students.
●Works to ensure the rights of students with disabilities to be full participants in the general curriculum.
●Implements state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to special education.
●Participates in the development of and oversees implementation of IEPs for students.
●Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
●Evaluates and maintains data on pupils’ academic growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
●Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student progress.
●Administers standardized tests in accordance with district protocols and to determine special education eligibility.
●Participates in curriculum development as required.
●Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
●Must be certified by MA DESE licensure standards – Mild/Moderate Disabilities
●Must have excellent communication, written, and interpersonal skills.
