What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floor Manager position at Liv Breads Artisan Bakery and Coffee Bar?
In this full-time, shift-supervisory, role for high-volume bakery cafe, you will ensure a positive and quality food service and retail-focused customer experience by providing courteous, friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable service to customers and team-members alike. You will supervise a team of shift-based staff (Retail Associates, runners/bussers, and baristas) stationed in both the retail area and cafe, as well as have oversight for wholesale, delivery, catering, and shipping orders for the day.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about hospitality, have an eye for detail, enjoy multitasking and being involved in many tasks at once, and have a strong 'lead-by-example' mentality. This position rotates between our bakery location in Millburn and our kiosk location in Short Hills, so reliable transportation is a requirement for this role.

Job responsibilities:
- Manage FOH shift team members serving as a role model and leading the team by example; prioritize and assign tasks, manage team breaks.
- Assist with ‘on-the’-job training’ of new staff members.
- Organize daily delivery to Mall location, as well as any wholesale, shipping, catering orders.
- Ensure cafe is being maintained properly throughout the day by bussers and runners.
- Ensure displays are set up properly and maintained throughout the day
- Ensure quality of service during service; assist customers with friendly, courteous and knowledgeable service; Be the point of contact for customer escalation.
- Adherence to quality control and food safety guidelines.
- Be able to navigate between all positions as necessary, including barista and retail shifts (we require our floor managers to train as a barista if they come in without prior barista experience).
- Occasional shifts at The Mall at Short Hills location as a Shift Lead
- Report into the Store Manager and work as a tight team to support staff members.
Skills and qualifications:
- Service oriented: puts the customer first, anticipates customer needs, gains customer respect and trust. Food service background required.
- Communicate: effectively and candidly, providing ongoing feedback and support to FOH team regarding responsibilities, technical skills, safety standards; liaise with BOH teams.
- Coaching Interest and ability to coach team members in order to build teamwork, and to motivate, inspire, and build trust.
- Teamwork: Open to diverse ideas, works inclusively and collaboratively, holds self and others accountable.
- Ability to stay calm and focused in a busy environment.
- Available to work flexible hours including mornings, weekends and holidays
- Prior experience as a barista is helpful, but not required.
- Have a passion for delicious and quality coffee, breads and baked goods.
- High school diploma or GED required.
