What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Tax and Treasury position at Liv Communities LLC?
Primary Purpose of Position:
Plans, directs, and controls the organization’s overall Tax and Treasury functions. Provides administrative oversight and liaison for Brooks family - charitable giving.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of tax workpapers and review of income tax returns, estimated tax calculations and tax projections for individuals, trusts, limited liability companies, partnerships, and corporations working with outside firm.
- Preparation of tax workpapers and review of gift and estate tax returns working with outside firm.
- Tax and estate planning, tax research and presentation of ideas. Work with outside technical firms as needed.
- Advise BCM Investment Committee on tax strategies for portfolio investments, including liquidity and tax status to determine which entities are more favorable to invest in which investment opportunities.
- Assist real estate operating entities with tax matters as requested including coordination and review of various tax returns and information.
- Oversee Liv and BCM Cash flow forecasting, Debt placement and documentation for Liv and BCM Borrowers and Guarantors, Bank compliance reporting.
- Oversee Liv Risk Management and Insurance programs for BCM and Liv, including insurance strategy and placement and Enterprise Risk Management.
- Work as an integral part of the financial team, performing other duties as assigned including learning and working in the Archway software.
- Provide administrative oversight and act as liaison for Brooks family charitable giving including:
- Accepting and recording all charitable requests and event invitations, forwarding to family units as appropriate for their consideration, conducting deeper reviews of requests.
- Providing preliminary evaluation of charitable request as appropriate. Schedule and conduct quarterly meetings with each family unit to review and approve charitable giving requests.
- Making recommendations based on family unit priorities and budgets.
- Communicating Family decisions back to charitable organizations.
- Tracking charitable giving and commitments and ensuring commitments are paid in a timely manner.
Job Qualifications:

- A minimum of three years of experience in public accounting is required.
- Corporate, Partnership, Trust and Individual income and gift tax preparation knowledge is required.
- Candidate is required to be a licensed CPA or an Enrolled Agent.
- Master of Science in Taxation (MST) is a plus.
- Absolute confidentiality regarding corporate and family finances and activities (avoid actions that put family security or reputations at risk).
