Job Summary and Qualifications
Function as a Behavioral Health Technician and performs a range of duties to ensure the effective day-to-day office operations of the unit as needed.
What you will do in this role:
Quality
- Conduct initial and ongoing data collection regarding patients individually and in groups and use that data to initiate appropriate therapeutic intervention.
- Identify potential risk factors and communicates observations to the RN. Implements interventions under the direction of the RN; such as safety levels, room programs, seclusion, restraint, etc. according to policy and procedure including associated documents.
- Utilizes the multi-disciplinary treatment plan and own knowledge and skill to guide interventions with patients. Provide comprehensive care to patients as assigned including physical, as well as psychological care. Contributes to the plan of care and revision of that plan.
- Documents observations, interventions and outcomes in the medical record according to policy and procedure.
- Provides educational information to patients and families.
- Transition of documentation to next level of care providers
- Maintenance of an inventory of office supplies and ordering of supplies and forms as needed
- Completion of discharge wellness calls to patients post discharge including documentation of call in patient electronic record.
- Data entry and management of spreadsheets to include, but not limited to admission/discharge log
- Updating care team of patients’ commitment status and court documentation needed.
- Transmission of documentation to Probate Courts
- Demonstration of expertise in mental health promotion and maintenance of high-quality comprehensive patient care.
- Assists in escorting patients to and from scheduled activities in a safe and professional manner.
- Assists as needed in obtaining vital signs in a complete and accurate manner
- Maintaining high level of interpersonal relationships with program staff.
- Utilization of appropriate skills in telephone etiquette when answering the telephone, making sure to record correct messages and pass along to appropriate staff, including patient inquiries.
- Maintenance of patients’ charts including filing, ensuring completeness and breaking down charts for medical records.
- Monitoring of cameras to maintain safety of unit including DESO duties.
- Accepting assignments to all units as directed by supervisor.
- Attending staff meetings and documenting meeting minutes to send out to team as directed.

- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, including active listening. Ensures patients, physicians, and colleagues have a clear understanding of all communications.
- Engages in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
- Participates as an active member of the health care team and positively promotes the rest of the team to patients/families/caregivers and other colleagues.
- Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates behaviors consistent with established policies/procedures.
- Perform as a Behavioral Health Tech as needed
People
- Serves as a resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contributes to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care.
- Assists in the orientation of new staff as needed.
Growth
- Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities, and seeks opportunities to improve department and inter-department processes.
Other
- Performs other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:
- High School Graduate / GED
1 years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Live Oak Mental Health and Wellness Center, is a part of Trident Health. We give inpatient stabilization treatment to patients who seek treatment for acute psychiatric symptoms which cannot be addressed on an outpatient basis. Common disorders of patients treated in this program include but are not limited to: major depressive disorder, schizoaffective disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, impulse control disorder and a variety of co-morbid personality disorders. Our patient population is both adult and adolescent. We offer 24 hour availability of a full range of services. We have the capability to institute rapid lifesaving interventions. Our physician availability is 24 hours a day to institute needed modification to the treatment plan. Psychiatrist involved in the direction and management of the treatment program. Round the clock skilled nursing care implementing the treatment plan and providing monitoring and assessment of the patient's condition and response to treatment.
