Position Summary : The Environmental Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and programs to minimize environmental risks and to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, and with corporate policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Leads environmental compliance and program assessments at the site, partnering with individual departments to drive improvements.
• Supports site personnel as needed to achieve an injury and incident free work environment.
• Develops, maintains, and administers training programs to ensure team members are knowledgeable of the requirements of applicable environmental laws, regulations and site procedures.
• Follows up with individual departments concerning successful closure of findings and recommendations.
• Reviews and / or prepares various semi-annual and annual environmental reports as required by federal, state, and local agencies, ensuring reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
• Manages projects related to air permitting, waste generation, wastewater, stormwater, remediation, and sustainability.
• Assesses the environmental risk of existing and proposed activities and advises team members of environmental impact.
• Develops and implements sampling and monitoring plans, which may include installing, operating, and maintaining equipment which monitors air, land, and / or water pollution levels.
• Completes all required environmental tasks as listed in the Environmental Compliance Calendar. Evaluates regulatory or company policy changes and updates Environmental Compliance Calendar as needed.
• Interprets data and observations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines and advises management accordingly.
• Evaluates and monitors stormwater discharge ponds. Adjusts discharge rates as needed to stay in compliance with local and state requirements.
• Manages the site solid and hazardous waste program which may include preparing waste for shipment, coordinating logistics, completing hazardous waste manifests, and managing waste storage locations.
• May perform various inspections required by various regulatory agencies (ex. : RCRA and Title V) as well as any site required inspections.
• Responds to accidental chemical releases on-site to mitigate and minimize harm to the environment
• Compiles site sustainability data and reports metrics to global sustainability team.
• Supports the site ISO 14001 certification by assisting in internal and external audits.
• Manages environmental project activities including scheduling, tracking, and planning for environmental assessments, site investigations, feasibility studies, and remedial action plans.

Work Environment : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Personal Protective Equipment : Must wear PPE as required based on job duties or when traveling to locations where PPE is essential.
