Overview

This is an in-office role.
The Surgical Recovery Manager: Manages operational activities required to recover, preserve and transport donated organs from deceased donors for transplantation and/or research. Ensures that LiveOnNY policies and procedures relating to organ preservation are followed. Manages on-call and daily schedule for staff to ensure adequate staffing coverage 24/7 for local donors, kidney exchanges, fly outs and imports. Provides day-to-day departmental supervision and administrative call support. Supports and fosters the Mission, Vision and Core Values of LiveOnNY and its commitment to organ, eye and tissue donation.
Responsibilities
Maintains 24/7 department administrative responsibility.
Ensures adequate staffing coverage 24/7.
Ensures that departmental activities are performed per organizational policy and regulatory standards.
Maintains office hours as required and/or assigned by Director, including attendance at department meetings, and quarterly meetings.
This position will split working time in office with time in field, supporting cases as a team member when necessary as well as offering additional support and assessing staff skillsets in the Operating Room setting.
Maintains organ recovery and preservation skills by participating in on-call schedule, as assigned.
Ensures recovery, packaging and labeling procedures are consistent with UNOS regulations.
Ensures compliance with Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) and Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) standards and policies as well as state, and federal policies for donation.
Maintains awareness of staff interactions with customers, partners and co-workers.
Provides administrative departmental support including performance appraisals, coaching and payroll approval.
Recommends staff for advancement or retraining. Works in conjunction with the training department to ensure adequate training of new staff and continuing education for existing staff, submitting appropriate documentation for all training events.
Performs on going staff competency evaluations to ensure compliance with LiveOnNY policies, FDA, and OPTN standards.
Plans and develops training opportunities to grow and develop the department.
Plans, organizes, and monitors initiatives that will maximize recoveries, allocation and logistical operations.
Assists in Identifying case-specific barriers to organ utilization, develops strategy to minimize risk of organ loss and maximizes opportunities for transplantation.
Participates in compliance, quality assurance, and performance improvement programs and initiatives.
Reviews cases for effective communication with the goal of maximizing transplantation opportunities and minimizing organ cold ischemia time.
Ensures local and import donor charts are reviewed for accuracy during case activity and final review, prior to chart going to Quality Assurance department.
Routinely reviews performance metrics and recommends changes in systems, policies, and procedures to maximize performance.
Assists in development and revision of departmental training materials.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (BS) in health-related field, Physicans Assistant, Nurse Practioner and 3-5 yrs experience in organ allocation/surgical recovery is required.
2 yrs minimum experience as a Surgical Recovery Coordinator at LiveOnNY or other OPO.
CTP (American Board for Transplant Certification) or CTPC required.
Must have superior knowledge of human anatomy and function, critical care, hospital operating room functions including sterile technique.
Sensitivity to grieving family members required. Must have good interpersonal and customer service skills.
This is an On-Site role.

Salary Range: $110,000-$137,000
