Livestock Nutrition Center specializes in blending customized rations, supplements and premixes to meet the specific nutritional needs of livestock producer's operations. We understand that management, performance objectives and feeding practices can be vastly different between operations, and that these differences dictate specific nutritional or formulation requirements. Our experienced sales staff and nutritionist will work with the producer to design a feeding program that is specific to their operation.

Position Summary
The Operations Internship with Livestock Nutrition Center presents carefully selected individuals, pursuing a degree in General Agriculture, Feed Science & Management, Agricultural Business or Agricultural Systems Management, the opportunity to take part in impactful and hands-on work that contributes to the needs of the business, as well as personal and professional development. The Operations Intern will gain operations exposure through participating in daily operations and internship activities, as requested by their internship mentor and local facility management. The Operations Intern will have the opportunity to learn from mentors, leaders, and facility managers regarding daily operational activity, including mill efficiencies, SOP’s, maintenance, and mill crew leadership. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to broaden their understanding of the business by spending time with various departments outside of operations, that may include but not be limited to, location facility management, sales, and commodity procurement. Throughout the internship, the Operations Intern will progressively work on an identified internship project, that will not only be valuable to their internship experience and long-term career goals, but also contribute to the benefit of Livestock Nutrition Center.

Responsibilities & Duties
- Assist with operational processes and procedures of the feed mill.
- Assist with the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures, including all necessary training for production/processing personnel at the feed mill.
- Follow and learn to lead the Preventative Maintenance programs and all equipment maintenance with production/processing & maintenance teams.
- Assist with the necessary QA/QC programs, including FSMA compliance.
- Gain an understanding of CAP EX projects.
- Learn and execute the process of timely ordering and receiving of ingredients for production needs; Assist with daily communication of weekly ingredient needs to operations leadership.
- Become versed in the process of proper mixing of all feeds.
- Assist in managing raw material inventories.
- Learn to coordinate production schedules and feed delivery schedules.
- Set and achieve Production goals, in partnership with your mentor, for efficiency and on time deliveries.
- Become proficient in, and learn to strictly enforce, all LNC Safety and Compliance procedures and programs at the facility.
- Ensure the facility appearance represents LNC in a professional manner.
- Become familiar with and versed on the aspects of LNC’s mission.
- Take advantage of learning LNC operations, sales and procurement processes, by scheduling and participating in Swap-Days with your local team.
- Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with your assigned mentor, local & remote management, as well as local teams.
- Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values.
- Conduct yourself as an ambassador of the Livestock Nutrition Center brand.
- Travel to different LNC locations or networking events upon request.
- Participate in weekly assigned internship activities; reschedule any missed activities as needed.
- Complete your identified internship project and present to leadership, in the format of your choice, at the end of the program.
- Participate in weekly internship recaps and updates throughout the 10-week period.
- Participate in an end-of-internship feedback session to help impact future internship programs.
- Complete and submit your individual expense reports as needed, promptly following any internship related travel.
Qualifications and Skills
- Senior standing with Junior year classwork completed by May of 2025.
- Qualified applicants will be pursuing a degree in General Agriculture, Feed Science & Management, Agricultural Business, or Agricultural Systems Management
- 3.0 GPA or higher.
- High level of work ethic and integrity.
- High level of computer skills.
- High level of customer service and team appreciation.
- Ability to maintain a safe working environment.
- Physical ability to sit and stand for extended periods, and to move and handle materials, which may entail lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work overtime as requested.
- Ability to work in varying weather and environmental conditions, including exposure to dust and extreme heat.
