Summary :
We are seeking a meticulous and organized Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing the full cycle of accounts payable processes and ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports. This role is crucial in ensuring that all financial transactions are processed accurately and timely. In addition, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for recording journal entries for areas such as payroll, cost of sales, and overhead. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience with payroll management, proficiency in various accounting software, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities :
Process accounts payable transactions, including invoices, expense reports, and payment requests.
Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and ensure compliance with company policies.
Perform general ledger reconciliation to verify the accuracy of accounts.
Assist in monthly and year-end close processes, including accruals and reconciliations.
Assist in payroll management by ensuring timely processing of employee payments.
Utilize accounting software such as ADP, Ceridian, or Quicken for efficient transaction processing.
Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure smooth financial operations.
Prepare reports related to accounts payable activities for management review.
Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations as required.
Review and process vendor invoices for accuracy, coding, and compliance with company policies.
Match invoices with purchase orders and contracts, ensuring proper approvals are obtained.
Prepare and execute payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
Monitor and maintain accounts payable aging reports to ensure timely payments and avoid late fees.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, or a related field is preferred.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar role within public accounting.
Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, payroll, month-end close, and general ledger reconciliation.
Familiarity with payroll systems and HRIS platforms is preferred.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Suite.
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with vendors and internal stakeholders.
