What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Program Assistant position at LiveWell?
We have a wonderful opportunity for a full-time recreation program assistant who embodies the passion and energy to work with people living with cognitive change.
Position Summary:
The Program Assistant is a champion of compassionate empathy-based care. The role is responsible for supporting members of the Resilient Living Center and the residents that attend classes. They are role models in relationship and community building and are key staff members in collaborating with residents/clients to maintain purpose, individuality, socialization, and overall well-being. They are ambassadors of LiveWell and play an important role in creating and helping to create meaningful experiences with and for those we serve.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support and advocate for each person’s ability to be engaged as a LiveWell community member reflecting their desires and lifestyle choices.
- Facilitate opportunities for connection between all Resilient Living Center members through designing and implementing special events and topics/activities of interest
- Work with neighborhood teams and Resilient Living Center faculty to maximize the autonomy and independence of residents/clients as they need escorting and navigate through the Center and Campus.
- Provide comprehensive support to All Access Pass members during operating hours (9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday).
- Assist members with navigation to classes, the café, restrooms, and other areas as needed, ensuring a smooth experience.
- Offer gentle reminders and cues to assist members in restrooms when necessary, maintaining dignity and comfort.
- Support members with meal ordering (breakfast and lunch) and encourage socialization during meal times to promote community.
- Monitor and respond to alerts from CarePredict wearable technology throughout the shift to ensure member wellbeing.
- Serve as a substitute facilitator for other classes in the event of faculty absence, ensuring continuity of programming.
- Provide in-class support to facilitators and All Access Pass members, ensuring an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Works with \volunteers to maximize their experience and contributions on campus.
Qualifications
A minimum of an associate’s degree in human services related field, or background in therapeutic recreation or enrollment in a therapeutic recreation certification program or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
Working Conditions:
Works in well-lit, well-ventilated setting. Sits, stands, stoops, and walks intermittently during the shift. Talking and hearing are essential for communication with other employees, families, and residents. Near visual acuity required for reading written instruction and other material. Deals with the public personnel, visitors, and residents under all conditions. Subject to frequent interruptions.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
