Job Summary
Our Engineering team at Livewire has an opening for a Vehicle Electrical Systems Integration Engineer. This open position requires a relentless drive for success while working in an efficient, dynamic and systems focused engineering environment. This engineer will be responsible for envisioning & implementing the electrical system of the vehicle in a manner that transforms the vehicle into the “must have” EV for the segment, and driving the team to successfully integrate those features, functions, content, and designs that deliver this system architecture.
This is what you'll do:
- Building upon LiveWire technology, develop and model concepts to fulfill customer needs.
- Define system interaction between multiple components and document those requirements for implementation by those responsible for component delivery.
- Support the creation of ‘System Function Documents’ (SFDs) to define expected behavior between components.
- Define system schematics (block diagrams) for specific sub-systems.
- Verify vehicle level system designs through MiL analysis and review.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to assure design, develop, and deliver vehicle components are implemented correctly based on the System design.
- Support the development and maintenance of requirements and associated traceability and test case results in a requirements tool like Helix.
- Provide status, project updates, and issue tracking using industry standard tools like Jira and Smartsheet.
- Provide technical input to design engineers for integration to assure vehicle and customer requirements are achieved.
- Ensure designs meet requirements for modular and flexible design of components for maximum re-use across other programs and vehicle platforms.
- Resolve complex problems such as technical issues and can provide solutions to problems using both creative processes and analytical methods. Works independently, providing guidance on the most complex situations.
- Impacts the achievement of delivering optimal designs while adhering to project targets, performance objectives, high quality, and cost minimization.
- Participate in component design reviews for adherence to system direction, including device transmittal and ‘Logical Schematic’ review.
- Develop and document best practices and standards for electrical systems and integration.
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical, Mechatronics or related technical degree. Advanced technical degree is a plus.
Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years of experience with electrical system design and architecture
- Demonstrated knowledge of various vehicle components including body control modules, harnesses and interconnects, chassis control modules, instrumentation/telematic systems, operator input devices/switches.
- Basic understanding of EV components: DC/DC converter, Motor Controller / Inverter, BMS, Onboard Charger and High Voltage bus management, Cell / Pack HV behavior
- Knowledge of standard validation and verification requirements.
- Experience and/or background in test engineering is a plus.
- MATLAB, Simulink; and rapid prototyping systems experience is a plus
- Able to code in Python, Matlab, or similar language.
- Proficient in the use of various test tools to debug CAN communications and control circuits.
- Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA and related quality assurance processes
- Team oriented working style and good communication skills for interaction with internal customers
- Knowledge of CAN communication bus standards and experience with on-road vehicle software
- Ability to communicate in a cross functional team setting to peers and management alike.
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 work process and technical deliverables is a plus
Pay Range: $70,600 - $105,700
The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
