Job Summary
Our Engineering team at the Livewire Labs facility located in Milwaukee, WI has an opening for a Sr. Electrical Engineer, Power Electronics. This open position requires a relentless drive to success while working in an efficient, dynamic, and agile engineering environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop technical architecture for the Battery Management System (BMS) and DCDC Converter
- Own hardware from conceptual design through prototype, validation, and production
- Create schematics, specify components, and work with PCBA engineer to create layouts
- Create and execute test plans for bring up and performance verification
- Support validation test planning (DVP/R) & test execution, including EMI/EMC performance
- Drive hardware conformance to industry standards, ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), and other global regulatory requirements
- Create, maintain, and execute the hardware DFMEA
- Create, maintain, and execute design validation testing
- Perform circuit simulations & worst-case analysis
- Execute root cause analysis for test failures and field returns
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (advanced degree preferred)
Experience Requirements
- 5 years of high voltage / high power electronics experience
- Detailed knowledge of power electronics products for EV powertrain applications
- Experience designing, debugging, and validating power electronics or battery electronics
Additional experience in the following areas is preferred:
- Designing circuits with mixed signals (digital and analog, various voltage levels)
- Power electronics component and system simulation (PLECS, Altium, LTspice, MATLAB / Simulink)
- Power transistor gate drive circuits, vehicle communication circuits, microcontroller circuits
- Power electronic component sizing and selection, including power semi-conductors, sensors (high voltage sensors, current sensors, temperature sensors, etc.), bulk capacitors, CAN communication, and other vehicle interface circuits
- High power (500 W – 100 kW ) conversion circuit design and analysis (AC-to-DC, DC-to-AC, and or DC/DC converters)
- EMI/EMC design best practices
- Power electronics high voltage laboratory experiments
- Data acquisition tools – LabView / Veristand, CANalyzer, Neo VI, etc.
- System requirements development and decomposition for hardware and software
- Requirements and work management tool (Helix, IBM DOORS, Polarion, JIRA)
- Power electronics system-based design process (A-SPICE)
Pay Range: $88,100 - $136,700
The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
