Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Field Tech – Nashville, TN
Living Earth, the leading producer of premium soil blends and elite mulch in Texas and Tennessee is seeking a full-time heavy equipment/truck mechanic to support our operations in the Knoxville, Tennessee region. The successful candidate will be available to work Monday through Friday (as well as the occasional Saturday) and will provide maintain our small fleet of trucks and heavy equipment. The candidate will ensure the functionality and reliability of machines, engines, mechanical, hydraulics, electrical systems, etc.
The highly attractive compensation package includes hourly wages and bonuses; position is eligible for overtime. Successful Candidate Attributes:
- Proven experience as Professional Mechanic. Valid certification (e.g. ASE) is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of heavy equipment (FELs, excavator, etc.) machinery, hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and MS office products, and follow established procedures and practices, and read instructions and blueprints.
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- A self-starter, someone who is comfortable working autonomously and as a team. Strong communications (written and verbal) with team and management members.
Responsibilities:
- Preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO) machines and components according to manufacturer requirements and best.
- Inspect and troubleshoot various fixed and mobile assets, machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
- Provide consultation on corrective maintenance actions / preventative measures to equipment and vehicle operators to work towards the reduction/elimination of breakdowns to maximize reliability and the meantime between failures.
- Undertake other duties such as the repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles, fixed asset / plant repairs, etc.
- Maintain paper and electronic logs of work and reports on issues.
