What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Youth Ministry position at Living Hope Community Church?
The Youth Director's job is to create a safe and supportive environment for young people to grow personally and spiritually as disciples of Jesus.
The Youth Director of Living Hope Community Church supports the Pastors of the church by designing, coordinating and implementing our ministry to youth (Junior and Senior High) in Old Greenwich and beyond as God leads. The Youth Director is a self-starter who is flexible, able to multi-task and exhibits initiative. The youth Director must exhibit a love and call to Middle/High school kids. The Youth Director handles sensitive situations discretely and confidentially and provides a moral example to the church congregation and community.
Responsibilities:
- Be a role model/faithful disciple of Jesus: demonstrate the values of your faith and lead by example.
- Build, maintain relationships with, and love and care for the youth of our congregation as you disciple them.
- Build and maintain healthy relationships with the congregation and Greenwich/Fairfield County community.
- Find and train volunteers for the youth group ministry team.
- Reach out to the youth of the community. Get involved in local school activities.
- Partner with local parachurch ministries like FCA, Focus and Young Life in reaching out to the students of our region.
- Network with other youth ministers by participating with “We Want More” for edification and coordinated Kingdom building.
- Work with our staff to build a calendar of activities (including event planning, promotion, facilitation, and follow-up).
- Communicate and work with our Senior Pastor and staff.
- Plan and manage the daily operations of the youth, including the lessons, events, mentoring, and relationship building.
- Schedule and send reminders to youth (youth group, outreach nights, etc.)
- Facilitate our Life Process to grow youth into disciple-makers.
Required Character/Skills
- Character: Has Godly character of a Deacon.
- Gospel centered: is able to present the Gospel clearly in a variety of settings and disciple students.
- Grow spiritually and be committed to a culture of disciple-making.
- Ability to multi-task; prioritize and possess good time-management skills.
- Is highly relational and able to lead others in faith development.
- Has strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Has proficient computer skills: MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Publisher) and Mac products
- Is proficient in a variety of computer software applications. Able to learn and use WEB Interfaces: REALM (Automated Church System); WordPress (Living Hope Website]) EZ Worship or ProPresenter [video projection]
- Able to learn and use all office equipment (printers, fax, etc.)
- Able to learn and use on-line platforms, i.e., Sign-up Genius, Instant Church Director, Facebook, Instagram
- Personal Relations: Is an energetic leader who is able to love and connect with youth and inspire them with discretion, discernment, tact, patience and diplomacy.
Education and Experience
- College diploma or a bachelor’s degree
- Two or more years effectively working with youth as a ministry
leader, coach, spiritual mentor and/or missionary.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: Up to $40,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 30 per week
