Job Summary
Management of The Studio at Living Opportunities is a long-term fine arts studio and structured arts program that provides visual art, music, and drama instruction and classes to promote the creative expression, growth, and professionalism of each artist in an inclusive environment. Responsible for supervising employees, artists, and volunteers; managing studio operations; coordinating program services; and collaborating with the development committee on fundraising and outreach activities. Qualifications
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Degree or equivalent experience in an arts program, fundraising, developmental disabilities program and/or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Combination of education and experience in art/music/drama instruction, community outreach and development, marketing strategies, leadership and staff supervision, disability services and supports, and/or program management.
Additional qualifications:
- Must satisfy all pre-employment, post-offer processes, including (but not limited to): drug test, criminal history (in accordance with Oregon Revised Statute 181.537 and Oregon Administrative Rules 125-007-0200 to 125-007-0330, 407-007-0200 to 407-007-0370, and 943-007-0000(2), abuse check, reference checks, physical/functional exam and be physically able to perform all job duties with reasonable accommodations;
- Must be eligible for driving agency vehicles as acceptable to agency insurance carrier;
- Must be 18 years old;
- Must have valid Oregon Driver’s License, proof of vehicle insurance, and acceptable driving record;
- Must have reliable personal vehicle for driving supported individuals as needed. (Mileage is reimbursed);
- Participate in CPR and First Aid Certification training, OIS, Equity Diversity and Inclusion training of Director’s choosing, and any other position-required trainings within 60-90 days of employment (or the soonest class thereafter);
- Be able to evacuate the premises independently in case of emergency. Must be able to assist supported individuals to do the same;
- Be able to perform the physical functions and activities of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, which may include (but not limited to) standing, lifting, bending, twisting, and carrying up to 50 pounds;
- Possess practical time management skills, sound judgment, and creative thinking skills;

Training: Responsible for completing a minimum of 16 hours of pre-service training and Core Competencies in first year. This position includes completing a minimum of 12 hours of pertinent in-service training annually.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Competently supervise, support, and advocate for and with supported individuals, employees, and volunteers with diverse backgrounds and needs, including those with LGBTQ and BIPOC identities;
- Facilitate and enhance a studio experience that is highly integrated within the arts community;
- Analyze skills, interests, and goals of studio artists and structure environment and supports for individuals’ learning, independence, and ongoing success, then provide training to staff and volunteers on individualized supports;
- Provide direct support and site coverage, including instruction in visual arts, music, and drama;
- Promote the independence of supported individuals and encourage choice in the delivery of all services;
- Establish communication, continued contact, and coordination of supports between the supported individual and their family, home/residential supports, Service Coordinator, and other team members as needed;
- Perform art sale transactions and document appropriately;
- Maintain a professional and welcoming environment at the Studio;
- Encourage community involvement, including volunteerism, through outreach and sharing information with visitors;
- Design and implement fundraising/development and marketing strategies that result in income for both the studio and the artists;
- Participate in and attend activities and special events connected to the studio;
- Maintain and build partnerships within arts and business communities;
- Maintain inventory, purchase art and event supplies, organize supplies and artwork
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through personal growth, modeling inclusive behavior, and being a catalyst for change.
Staff Supervision/Training
- Coordinate with the Director and HR in implementing staff training checklist with staff and volunteers;
- Provide ongoing support to staff and volunteers in the areas of quality control, problem-solving, restructuring, and teaching strategies;
- Regularly monitor the performance of staff and volunteers with respect to duties to ensure quality supports. Include follow-up/check-ins with staff, including training with direct observation and feedback regarding their performance (ongoing/as needed);
- Perform annual staff evaluations. Collaborate with staff to build on their strengths and to identify areas for growth;
- In coordination with other managers, establish staff schedules and assignments to implement studio operations and community activities efficiently;
- Review staff timesheets for each pay period.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Participate in Individual Support Plan (ISP) meetings for supported individuals and provide information on individual’s skills, goals, and interests and develop support documentation, including safety plans and action plans;
- Monitor data and progress notes as collected and verifying individual’s progress at meeting desired outcomes as specified in ISPs/service agreements;
- Document and submit progress notes and financial/billing data for reports as required by funding agencies;
- Maintain records and operations as specified in the Oregon Administrative Rules for DSA Services;
- Comply with policies, procedures, and administrative rules as they pertain to studio operations, funding requirements, and resource development;
- Other reasonable duties as assigned by the Director relating to the position's responsibilities and program needs.
