The Water Maintenance Technician assists in the Maintenance of all Living Shores Aquarium water systems and buildings including but not limited to carpentry, repair and maintenance, preventative maintenance, service calls, pumps, protein skimmers, and salt systems. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of Moo Lagoon, other splash pads, and water systems at rides in Story Land. Finally, adherence to all safety, park and departmental policies.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Understanding of aquarium systems, plumbing, filtration, and overall life support
  • Knowledge of water chemistry and the adequate parameters in aquariums & water park setting, knowledge of the nitrogen cycle a plus
  • Ozone usage and general maintenance
  • Change UV bulbs, O-rings, and quartz sleeves
  • Clean heat pump grates & read the temperature in aquarium exhibits and/or water parks
  • Media stir & backwashing large media filters in accordance with holding tank size (fresh & saltwater), moving water from holding to filling exhibit line
  • Maintain and repair life support systems, including pressure gauges, O-rings, pump gaskets, and PVC elements (piping, valves, fittings, etc.)
  • Pump repair and cleaning pump baskets
  • Troubleshoot system inconsistencies in pressure, temperature, or leaking
  • Assist in the overall maintenance of all buildings including Living Shores
  • Evaluates and inspects buildings, fire alarms and HVAC systems and provides maintenance when needed.
  • Provides electrical panel inspections including IR, panel maintenance and pump electrical.
  • CPO within first year
  • Operation and maintenance of chemical injectors and media filters
  • Winterizing and de-winterizing of pool systems.
  • Monitoring, evaluation, and adjusting chemicals in pool systems and incidental contact water systems
  • Evaluates and inspects building plumbing and interior lighting. Provides repairs when needed.
  • Ensure all standard operating procedures are followed.
  • Communicate updates to supervisor on current work orders.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Other duties as requested
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Languages: Fluent English. Bilingual skills are helpful.

  • Computer Proficiency – MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience:
  • Must possess 1 year of experience with aquarium systems
  • Previous experience with commercial facilities, amusement parks, or pool systems a plus.
Other:
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions and elements including the direct sun with no shade, cold, rain, dust, and all other outdoor weather elements
  • Must be able to stand, kneel, walk, stoop, and bend
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 75lbs
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must possess the physical capabilities necessary to perform the job duties
