Summary

Maranatha Christian Academy is a private school serving grades Pre-kindergarten through grade 12 in Brooklyn Park, MN.We are an influential school of collaborators, innovators and explorers grounded in Christian faith empowering co-creators of tomorrow.

Established in 1978, Maranatha is a fully accredited school that fulfills its mission by developing students who are self-directed, life-long learners, all the while assisting each student in establishing an unshakeable relationship with Jesus Christ.

The STEM Teacher provides instruction for classes such as computer sciences, CAD / engineering, coding, robotics, and drone classes.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and competency satisfactorily. Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Teaching

  • Professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; models a consistent, daily walk with Jesus Christ in attitude, speech, and actions.
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration.
  • Motivates students to accept God's gift of salvation and grow in their faith.
  • In an eight-period schedule, FT staff teach six class periods (given two prep periods) plus an advisory and Discipleship Group.
  • Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements / standards of state and school and submits weekly to principal.
  • Review and align curriculum with the schools overall mission.
  • Lectures, demonstrates, and uses audiovisual technology teaching aids to present subject matter to class.
  • Prepares, administers, and corrects tests, and records results.
  • Assigns lessons, homework, corrects papers, and hears oral presentations.
  • Teaches rules of conduct
  • Maintains order in classroom and in auxiliary spaces on campus as well as off-site school sponsored activities.
  • Counsels students when academic and / or behavioral problems arise.
  • Discusses students' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents.
  • Keeps attendance and grade records as required by school.
  • Completes non-standard information requests for ISP Students (upper school only).
  • Coordinates class field trips and guest speakers.

  • Education, Certificates, and / or Experience

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university.

    Current MN state teaching license preferred

    Language Skills

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from parents, students, and the general public.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to manage a gradebook.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Computer Skills

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of gradebook and assignment software, Internet software; spreadsheet software, collaboration software; and word processing software, as well as any software appropriate to the content area.
