What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clerk (Livingston County Residents Only) position at Livingston County?
The work of employees in this class involves performing routine clerical duties or assisting in the performance of more difficult or responsible clerical work. The work is performed under direct supervision, permitting some exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Detailed instructions may be given for new or difficult assignments. In the County service, employees in this class obtain training and experience which can lead to higher levels of work assignments and responsibilities in their respective agencies. This position differs from the Clerk/Typist and Typist positions which require a higher skill level in typing. A Clerk does related work as required.
Clerks, part-time, NC in all divisions
Part-time service will be given prorated credit toward experience requirements.
- Indexes materials and performs simple record keeping tasks;
- Pulls material from files and maintains charge?out records;
- Files correspondence, memoranda, reports and other materials;
- Makes entries on cards, bills or in ledger from original source;
- Answers telephone: providing information to callers, taking messages, and making appointments;
- Assists in preparation of routine reports;
- Operates copy machines, simple computing, computers and other office machines;
- Makes arithmetical computations and compiles simple statistical reports;
- Maintains time records and payroll data;
- May relieve telephone switchboard operators; and
- Performs other related duties.
