This is routine manual work involving responsibility for the safe and economical operation of light motor vehicle equipment, such as a panel truck, pickup truck, van or station wagon in transporting people, in making pickups and deliveries of small packages, supplies and related materials. Work is performed under general supervision. Supervision may be exercised over work of a helper. Does related work as required.
Courier, NC in all divisionsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds. Possession of an appropriate level New York State Driver's license at time of appointment and maintenance of this license throughout employment.
- Loads and unloads vehicles;
- Assists with packaging items to be delivered;
- Makes regular pickup and delivery stops between various offices and buildings;
- Makes other pickups and deliveries as instructed;
- Sorts and shelves packages, books, related materials and supplies for future delivery;
- Performs general maintenance duties on vehicle and makes minor repairs;
- Maintains records and makes reports relative to duties;
- Assists in establishing routes;
- Carries verbal and written messages between various offices and buildings;
- May transport passengers;
- Performs a variety of errands requiring the use of a light motor vehicle;
- Performs routine clerical duties such as filing; and
- May perform janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, washing floors, mowing lawns and shoveling snow.
