POSITION SUMMARY

Develop a daily route based on student ridership using a computerized routing program and be proficient in reading maps. Drive a school van to transport students over specified routes according to time schedule. Complies with all licensing and traffic regulations.

  • Drives a school van safely and professionally, showing proficiency in handling and maneuvering.
  • Performs, and properly completes, daily pre-trip and post trip inspections.
  • Complies with all traffic ordinances.
  • Complies with discipline polices set forth in the School Code of Conduct for Transportation.
  • Participates in on-site training.
  • Must be able to routinely lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform frequent and repetitive physical labor that includes lifting, bending, flexing, pushing and climbing.
  • Develops route schedule using a computer routing program.
  • Contacts parent / guardian to communicate pick up and / or drop off times.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises students while transporting.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's (DMV) License with no points.
  • Must be able to obtain Michigan Chauffeur's license.
  • Must be able to successfully pass physical exam, and test negative for prohibited substances.
  • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his / her employment in the District.
