JOB SUMMARY:

The Pediatrician will provide comprehensive medical care to patients up to age 18 in a community oriented setting. Responsibilities include direct patient care in the outpatient Rural Health Clinic as well as on-call obligations for the Critical Access Hospital. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the health and well-being of our young patients and their families.

  • Mon-Fri
  • 24hr Pediatric Call (10 Inpatient Call Shifts per Month)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide routine and preventive health care for children, infants and adolescents up to age 18, including physical examinations, immunizations, and developmental assessments.
  2. Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and infections in pediatric patients.
  3. Monitor patients' health status, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and provide ongoing support to promote disease control and quality of life.
  4. Educate patients and their families on health promotion, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  5. Offer patient-centered education and counseling on various health-related topics, empowering patients and their families to make informed decisions about their healthcare.
  6. Coordinate care with other members of the healthcare team for patients with complex medical needs, and advocate for continuity of care to optimize patient outcomes.
  7. Provide Critical Access Hospital Pediatric coverage, which typically includes ~eight, 24-hour shifts per month. This includes managing newborn resuscitation, pediatric critical illness stabilization and transfer, and hospital admission with comprehensive inpatient care.
  8. Participate in coverage of the "Kids Care Line," which answers family phone calls from the clinic.
  9. Provide leadership and updates in pediatric care, including immunization standards, to family practitioners and others caring for children.
  10. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory requirements.
  11. Participate in community outreach programs to promote pediatric health and wellness.
  12. Engage in continuous professional development and stay current with pediatric best practices and guidelines.
  13. Attend clinical services and hospital meetings as required by Livingston HealthCare Medical Staff Bylaws
  14. Participate actively in Livingston HealthCare’s quality assurance programs to maintain and enhance the standard of care.
  15. Engage in the peer review process to contribute to ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
  16. Maintain compliance with annual education requirements and regulatory standards.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):

  1. Valid state medical license to practice in Montana or ability to obtain licensure
  2. Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  3. Board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics.
  4. DEA registration and other necessary certifications for practice.
  5. Strong commitment to patient-centered care and community health.
  6. Excellent communication, community leadership and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  8. Experience in rural healthcare settings is preferred.
