JOB SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking an experienced OR Circulator RN to join our team. The OR Circulator RN will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the care of patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. This individual will work closely with the surgical team to ensure the safety and well-being of the patients throughout the surgical process. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. This position offers a unique on-call schedule, providing flexibility and work-life balance for the candidate.
Schedule:
- 0.5FTE (20 hours minimum) Call
- Mon - Fri
- 2x10 Shifts
- Potential for Call as low as 12 days per year
Compensation:
- $33.79/hr DOE
- $3.00/hr Circulator Differential
- Part-Time Benefits Package
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cover RN circulator call as noted above with an arrival time of 30 minutes or less from the initial call-in.
- Prepares OR suite ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available and functioning properly.
- Act as patient advocate for surgical and procedural patients
- Develop and individualized perioperative plan of care for each patient, and implementing this plan by:
- protecting the patient from injury caused by extraneous sources including but not limited to chemical, mechanical, and thermal sources;
- performing accurate count procedure to protect against unintended retained surgical items;
- performing an effective and accurate time out to ensure the correct patient, procedure, site, laterality, and/or level;
- managing patient specimens according to LHC policies and procedures
- administering medications safely and correctly including verification of medications dispensed to the sterile field;
- monitoring patient status throughout the procedure and communicating any concerns openly to the team;
- performing interventions to maintain the patient’s wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels;
- performing interventions to maintain normothermia;
- performing interventions to prevent surgical site infection;
- protecting the patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy; and
- providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice
- Document nursing care and procedural times accurately and completely.
- Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as applicable (e.g., radiology, lab)
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide support, instrumentation, and/or supplies as needed.
- Monitor the sterile field to ensure maintenance of the sterile environment.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stays as second RN with the PACU nurse following after-hours cases until the patient is in phase II or is transferred to the floor.
- OR set up and cleaning.
QUALIFICATIONS (Required):
- Current unrestricted Montana RN license or Multistate Compact RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Two years OR RN Circulator experience
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 3 months of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 3 months
- Computer skills/ EHR skills (Microsoft word, Excel, Cerner)
