POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides primary care to patients following established standards and practices.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES:
- Assists Office Manager in ensuring implementation of local, state, and federal statues governing the medical and business operation of the provider based rural health clinic.
- Collaborates with community agencies and physicians to promote continuity of services for patients.
- Provides primary health care including:
- Obtains complete or interval health history of the patient.
- Identifies health hazards in the patients environment.
- Identifies patient risk factors.
- Identifies and considers the cultural patterns, economic status and patient resources in plan of care.
- Performs appropriate physical exam as indicated.
- Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and other diagnostic testing.
- Analyzes clinical data for appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
- Assures treatment and/or plan of care is consistent with established protocols.
- Revises treatment plan as indicated by patient response.
- Provides patient teaching consistent with patients level of comprehension.
- Seeks out community resources to meet or assist with the patients needs. Refers patient to appropriate services that exceed services of the clinic or scope of practice of the practitioner.
- Carries out nursing action in a safe manner according to current standards.
- Documents all patient information accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner.
- Assures appropriate consent forms are signed and dated.
- Provides health promotion counseling and develops patient teaching information.
- Maintains current license and continuing education requirements.
- In collaboration with Office Manager, develops and implements the business plan and marketing plan
for the clinic.
6. Reviews random patient plans of care with collaborative physician.
- Works independently with little supervision.

- Is familiar with the Quality System including the Quality Policy and Objectives.
3. Performs other duties as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ABILITIES):
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Masters degree in nursing. Specialty in family practice.
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS, ETC.)
- State Registered Nurse License
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License
- ANCC or AANP Certification
- BLS or ACLS certification (Recommended Only)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to communicable disease and bodily fluids. Requires working under stress in emergency situations or during irregular hours.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Well lighted environmentally controlled office setting.
