Position Summary
The Director of the Chamber of Commerce serves as the chief executive officer of the organization, responsible for implementing policies set by the Board of Directors, managing day-to-day operations, and driving initiatives to support business growth and community development. The Director acts as a key spokesperson, strategic planner, and leader for the Chamber.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
- Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve the Chamber's mission and goals.
- Supervise and manage Chamber staff, volunteers, and committees to ensure operational efficiency.
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates and reports on Chamber activities, finances, and programs.
Financial Oversight
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
- Manage membership dues, sponsorships, fundraising efforts, and events to ensure adequate revenue generation.
Membership Engagement
- Develop strategies to attract, retain, and engage Chamber members.
- Foster strong relationships with local businesses, organizations, and stakeholders.
- Act as a resource for members, providing support and advocacy for their needs.
Community and Economic Development
- Promote local economic growth by collaborating with businesses, government entities, and community organizations.
- Represent the Chamber at community events, business forums, and government meetings.
- Advocate for policies and programs that benefit the local business community.
Event and Program Management
- Plan and execute Chamber events such as networking opportunities, fundraisers, and educational workshops.
- Oversee programs aimed at business development, community enrichment, and member engagement.
Marketing, Technology and Communications
- Develop and implement marketing and public relations strategies to enhance the Chamber's visibility and reputation.
- Manage social media platforms to engage with the community and promote Chamber events.
- Maintain and update the Chamber’s website, ensuring information is current and accessible.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) for reports, presentations, and collaboration.
- Create and manage digital newsletters, email marketing campaigns, and promotional materials.
- Implement technology-driven solutions for event management, business outreach, and membership engagement.
- Serve as the Chamber's primary spokesperson to the media and community.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public relations, marketing, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in nonprofit management, business development, or community relations.
- Previous leadership or management experience, ideally within a Chamber of Commerce or similar organization.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
- Proficiency in social media management and digital marketing.
- Experience with website management platforms (WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace preferred).
- Familiarity with design tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in financial management, including budgeting and fundraising.
- Relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders, including business leaders, government officials, and community members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Work Environment
- The position requires attending events, meetings, and activities outside of standard office hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Regular interaction with business leaders, government officials, and the community is expected.
- Some travel may be required for conferences and networking events.
Compensation
This position offers a salary of $55,000 , with final compensation determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
